Both REACH and CLP demand the compilation and submission of a Safety Data Sheet (SDS). The following sections within SDS such as, hazard identification (section 2), firefighting measures (section 5), physical and chemical properties (section 9)  and  transportation and regulatory information (section 14 and 15) require physico-chemical data for compliance and risk evaluation. This applies to substances that are manufactured within the EU or imported into the EU in volumes above one ton annually. Once a registrant has completed the SDS and registration dossier, they can proceed with the submission to the European Chemical Agency, (ECHA).
